Charming Victoria ~ #cartwheels,#bracelets,#shortstories,#
Victoria is in sixth grade and loves recess at the middle school that she attends. She and Malanie would rush to put their books in their back packs so that they could go outside.Victoria and her group of friends loved to do cartwheels and flips. All of the girls in the group practiced these gymnastic moves for the last two weeks.Victoria had a dress on today. She got a hall pass from the teacher and went to go to the bathroom to put her shorts on.
While giving the hall pass to the teacher and putting her backpack on the bench,Victoria noticed that the girls were doing a new gymnastic move.Victoria asked Melanie if she knew the name of the new move. She said,"hand stand".Victoria had never tried to do the hand stand before. She agreed to try and two other girls held her up,but she kept falling over.Victoria kept practicing the hand stand against a brick wall. The other girls, (including Melanie) had no problems doing the move without leaning against the wall.
Victoria took a break and walked over to the bench and drank a couple of sips from her bottle of water. She called for Melanie to come over and sit with her.Melanie turned away and was trying to make her hand stand even better. Victoria felt left out and took some candy out of her backpack to eat.The P.E. teacher told the class that sugar was bad for their bodies, but she needed to feel comfort at that moment. Those 4 pieces of peppermint really did not help the situation after all, Victoria thought to herself. Some of the girls pointed at her, laughed and asked,"Hey, Victoria! What's up? Why can't you do a little hand stand?" Victoria said nothing. She thought that ignoring the girls was the best thing to do.
That night, after studying for her Math test, Victoria asked her mother if she ever felt like a loser. Her mother poured a glass of grape juice and sat down. She told Victoria that there were many times in her life that she felt that she had failed at something. Her mother told her that she should not listen to every thought that comes into her head.Victoria told her about what happened during recess.
Her mom said: "Victoria, everybody does not have the same talents and abilities. All that you can do is your best.Concentrate on your skills....Math,Science,great smile, organized, playing the clarinet, care about your health, and you polish nails better than anybody that I know! You are a charming Rock Star!"
Victoria smile and life was better.
During Math class the next morning, the teacher told the class that only 8 students passed the test. The Math teacher passed the papers out and Victoria was nervous. Then she turned the test over and saw that she had made a 92%. "Oh yeah!" Victoria said. Her heart was doing a hand stand. She was happy and wanted to rush home to tell her mom and dad.
Victoria walked home and put her backpack on the kitchen floor. Her mom was not home yet. She noticed a note and a bracelet on the kitchen counter.
The note read: "I'm so proud of you for passing that Math test! This sweet charm bracelet is for my charming daughter!Think about eating 1 piece of candy instead of a handful next time...Kisses, Mom."
Victoria wondered how moms know EVERYTHING! She loved the charm bracelet and put it on her wrist. Then she went onto the patio and turned cartwheels after calling some new friends that she made at recess that day.
Do your best and forget the rest, Marie :0
